Private Coaching Centres asked to follow set norms | KNO

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 13 (KNO) : The Government has asked the Private Coaching centres to adhere to the norms and rules set by the Government. On the instructions of Minister for Education, Director School Education, Kashmir (DSEK), Dr G N Itoo issued instructions to the registered private tuition centres of Srinagar district during a meeting here today. As per DSEK spokesperson, the meeting was convened to make private coaching centres bound to adhere to the norms and rules, following various complaints received from parents and students. It was instructed that no coaching shall take place in any tuition centre before 9:00 am and after 5.30 pm during winter season. The owners were advised to publish the fee structure and details of the faculty in the leading newspapers within 4 days. They were further told to have all the proper facilities of lighting, heating arrangements, drinking water, separate washroom for boys and girls, sanitation and proper accommodation for the students. Coaching centres were also instructed to have proper safety measures which include installation of CCTV Cameras for the security and safety of students. Conveying the concern of the Government regarding the fee structure of tuition centres, Director School Education asked the coaching centres to send the list of students enrolled in their centres to the Directorate by the end of December. Dr Itoo further instructed them to reserve 10% seats for the students coming from Poor/ BPL backgrounds. The list of such students should be provided to the Directorate of Education after following a proper mechanism, he added. Director School Education emphasized that all the guidelines mentioned in order No. 435 – EDU of 2010 and Order No. 1264 – DESK of 2017 must be followed in letter and spirit. He impressed upon the coaching centre owners to follow the rules laid down regarding the accommodation i.e 9 sq.ft per student. All the participants assured Director Education that they shall follow all the rules, norms and guidelines to provide education in transparent way. The meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Joint Director South, Joint Director Central and Chief Education Officer Srinagar and other senior officers of Education Department. Earlier, Director School Education Dr G N Itoo inaugurated 3 day training workshop on “ICT for Science and Mathematics Teachers“ at SPHSS Srinagar. The workshop has been organised by Directorate of School Education, Kashmir in collaboration with Homi Babha Atomic Research Institute Mumbai. Around 50 teachers of school education department will be imprated training and they shall act as Master Trainers in their respective districts. While addressing the teachers, Dr Itoo said that the aim of the workshop was to modernize education system and provide latest information and knowledge to the students.(KNO)
